Smudgepot cosmetics

Elastin: a protein found in the neck ligaments and aortas of cows. Stearic acid: fat from cows and sheep and from dogs and cats euthanized in animal shelters. Keratin: a protein from the ground-up horns, hooves, feathers, quills, and hair of various animals.

Pretty disgusting, right? These definitions come from PETA’s list of animal ingredients commonly used in cosmetics and makeup. Do you really want all that nasty stuff on your skin? We think not.

Toronto cosmetics company Smudgepot creates products that can help you – and your pets – stop suffering for beauty. Founded by esthetician and makeup artist Michelle Palmer in 2003 in response to the cosmetics industry’s rampant overuse of animal byproducts, Smudgepot’s wares are free of animal-derived ingredients, are not tested on animals, and do not include synthetic or chemical ingredients. All Smudgepot products are made by hand in small, made-to-order batches and encased in minimal packaging that can be reused or recycled.

With Beatles-inspired names like Here, There and Everywhere Yoga Mat Spray, Instant Karma Body Butter and Working Class Hero Foot Scrub, Smudgepot’s vegan skin care line is full of goodness. Why not save your skin - and maybe a few lives – with these fresh and locally-made products.

I wear Smudgepot’s lip balm everyday and I LOVE it! I feel confident putting her products on my little daughter too. I recommend everyone try Smudgepot products.
