GTA energy audit firm celebrates 25 years

April 18, 2008

Members of Green$aver, a leading environmental energy audit firm in the Greater Toronto Area, marked the opening of their new office Friday with friends and colleagues, including Ontario’s minister of energy, the chief energy conservation officer of Ontario and local politicians.

The open house also coincided with Green$aver’s 25th anniversary and 35,000th energy audit completed. “As one of a number of energy audit companies involved with Ontario’s Home Energy Audit and Retrofit programs, Green$aver is helping homeowners find ways to cut their energy use, lower their electricity bills and shrink the size of their carbon footprint,” said Minister of Energy Gerry Philips.

Green$aver is a pioneer of residential energy conservation in Ontario and has a successful history of implementing both economically viable and environmentally friendly measures to help individuals and organizations with their energy needs. They help condominiums, multi-unit low rises and commercial and mixed use buildings lower their energy bills and increase the resale value of homes while reducing the environmental impact of unnecessary energy use. Green$aver also organizes and performs energy education and outreach programs to provide local communities with the information and tools required to implement energy efficient measures.

Green$aver is a model of how a small organization, committed to the community and to energy conservation can make serious changes in the lives of those in the Greater Toronto Area. I celebrate their achievements, wish them future success in their new location and commend them for their efforts to build a culture of conservation,” said Peter Love, chief energy conservation officer of Ontario.

Etobicoke-Lakeshore MPP Laurel Broten and Toronto City Councillor Peter Milczyn were also on hand to tour the facility and take part in the open house.
