Bike Month starts Monday
May 24, 2008
For the first time, Bike to Work Week in Toronto has officially been extended into Bike Month - Monday, May 26 to Saturday, June 21. Bike Month includes nearly 150 events across the city, including tours by bike, trail clean ups, group rides, movie screenings, art shows, bike races, tune up/fitness clinics, urban planning seminars, community breakfasts and barbeques, auctions and exhibits.
Join cyclists from across the city in Toronto’s 19th annual Group Commute into the downtown core on Monday morning. Work up an appetite for the cyclists’ breakfast in Nathan Phillips Square at 8:30am and maybe walk away with a free organic t-shirt. An open air fair on the square will start at breakfast and continue throughout the day.
Check out the city’s cycling page for bicycle maps, a calendar of events, information on how to request bicycle posts and rings and bicycle user groups. Join Toronto’s newly formed bike union (membership starts at only $2!) and help advocate for safety, legitimacy and accessibility of cycling in the city. Check out I Bike T.O. for the latest local and national cycling news and events, discussion forums and ride matching.
